ScholarshipsTwo of the scholarships, at $750 each, are designated for members of the Leos Club, the student arm of the Saratoga Springs Lions Club. The third scholarship, $3,000, is open to any graduating senior from Saratoga Springs High School or Saratoga Central Catholic High School. Applications can be obtained from the guidance office at each school. 2008 Saratoga Springs Lions Club Scholarship WinnersThree graduating seniors from Saratoga Springs High School were awarded the Saratoga Springs Lions Club scholarships. The presentations were made by Lion Dr. J. Michael Gonroff, scholarship committee chairman, at the Lions Club’s June 5 luncheon.A $3,000 scholarship was awarded to Logan Carr, daughter of Donna and David Carr Jr. of Saratoga Springs. She has a 93.7 grade point average; has earned Scholar Athlete Awards in soccer and lacrosse, and has been involved in school government, orchestra, and varsity sports. Active in community service projects, she has been an on-ice trainer for the Skating Association for the Blind and Handicapped/Gliding Stars program, which is sponsored by the Saratoga Springs Lions Club, and a volunteer bell ringer for the Salvation Army. She will major in biology at Emmanuel College in Boston as part of a pre-med program. Scholarships of $750 each, awarded to members of the Leos Club, were presented to Angelica D’Aiello, daughter of Claire Tarantino of Saratoga Springs, and Jessica Poulin, daughter of Patricia and Raymond Poulin of Saratoga Springs. Both were cited for their involvement in community projects, sports and school leadership, and academic standing. Angelica will attend Colby College in Maine, and Jessica will attend SUNY-Oneonta. |
