12 Members of the Saratoga Springs Lions Club Assisted In Cleanup Efforts On Columbus Day.
The Saratoga Springs Lions Club Foundation delivered over $5,000 in food, supplies and gift cards during a recent trip to the areas in Schoharie County, NY affected by flooding devastation. In addition to the delivery, twelve members of the club volunteered their day, ripping out damaged building materials from homes affected by the flooding.
The Saratoga Springs Lions Club delivered $2,500 in building tools and cleanup supplies, sold at a reduced cost by Allerdice, including hammers, pry bars, respirator masks, bleach, detergent, work gloves, plastic totes, pails, sponges and insect repellent.
The Lions Club purchased $2000 worth of groceries at Price Chopper, including 150 pounds of cold cuts, cans of soda, 50 pounds of macaroni, 125 pounds of ground beef, 100 pounds of potatoes, bricks of cheese and tomato sauce for chili and pasta. Price Chopper also donated gift cards for free.
Stewart’s provided $1500 worth of gift cards for $1000 to assist in the effort.
In addition, Tom Roohan from Roohan Realty donated his moving truck to deliver the supplies and food to Schoharie County.
“This was a great opportunity for the Saratoga Lions Club to reach out and help those in need. We were able to purchase products locally and thus thank the vendors that support the Lions Club and Lions events throughout the year, including the Annual Duathlon and golf tournament,” said Saratoga Lions Club Foundation President L. Clifford Van Wagner.
The Saratoga Springs Lions Club would like to thank the following companies for their generosity:
Allerdice Bulding Supply
Price Chopper
Stewart’s Shops
Roohan Realty
